Page 10 February 14, 1986 The Other Press Radical Well, the Cultch has done it again, and has done it well to boot! Of course it’s easy to put on a ‘packed crowd’’ production when the San Francisco Mime Troupe is presented. The 26 year troupe, one of the longest-lived performing outfits in the U.S. formed out of the political and artistic ferment of the 60’s, is ‘‘still radical, topical, tough and funny.”’ Their performance of Crossing Bor- ders, based on the radio series Voices in Exile was a hilarious, domestic, s contemporary farce, and was well worth going to see. Taking a good stab at American political policies which allow refugees from ‘‘friendly’’ - countries to immigrate while others ; are not allowed, the absurdity of politics shines through perfect music- al and comedian timing. Crossing Borders was running Jan. 30, 31 and Feb. 1st, so you can forget Meas Slab Boys & The Slab Boys is a current’ play appearing at Langara College. The play centres on three young men, each of whom have some aspect of their lives they are trying to get away from The play is basically a comedy with a-very serious side to it. The comedy team of George (Spanky) Farrell played by Mike Stack and_ Phill McCann played by Ted Cole was superbly acted. The quick dialogue and practical jokery made the play interesting. The use of props was masterfully orchestrated by director John Cooper. Paint from the slab room ended up on everything. Clothes, pants and_ all over the actors, virtually everywhere adding to the comical effect. | highly recommend this funny innovative play by John Byrne.
