INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / MARCH 19, 1991 Foundation Week — Schedule of Activity Tuesday, March 19 Career Fair Career Fair 1991 will host 35 local and national corporations in the concourse presenting career paths and opportunities to our students. Wednesday, March 20 Putting Contest The Putting Contest will take place in the concourse from 12 noon through 2 p.m., and for $1 (3 balls/ putts) you will have the opportunity to wina ticket to the D.C. Open, to be held at Carnoustie Golf & Country Club on June 25. Thurs., March 21 Chili Contest & Beer Garden The Chili Concourse Carne contest will take place between 12:30 and 1:30 p.m. in the concourse. Teams and/or individuals will be able to enter a crockpot of chili (we provide table space and outlets) to be judged by the public - we will sell tickets ($1) eligible for 3, 2 oz. cups of chili, and ask each “sampler” to fill out an evaluation for prizes. An informal beer garden will conclude the day with music provided by Henry Waack in the Douglas Room (4-6 p.m.). Friday, March 22 ~— Airplane Throwing Contest At least three prizes will be available for winning at the inaugural “DC Air 1991" contest - to take place from 12:15 through 12:30 p.m. in the Concourse. Planes may be purchased (2 for a $1) from the Student Society, The Foundation Office or The Alumni Office (and other designated airports - watch for signs). They will also be sold from the launching area (4th floor crosswalk) from 12 noon to 12:25. Inside Douglas College is published every two weeks by the Douglas College Monday, March 25 Fun Olympics The Fun Olympics will be a series of events held in the Gym (from noon until 1 p.m.) where a minimum of 8 teams are challenged to complete each event while being graded. The winner(s) will receive some special prizes. Tuesday, March 26 Awards Ceremony This is the opportunity for the Foundation to present the results of our donor’s generosity, in the form of our Spring Award of scholarships and bursaries. At least $100,000 will be awarded to approximately 150 students. There will be different foods and different beers from countries around the world. Bissett says that Douglas College can be a vehicle for changing how we view people from other cultures. “We would like to see the College as a leader in shaping a non-racist environment as opposed to a reflec- tion of society. All groups have participated in this and have shown com- mitment, so it’s been an exciting project.
