RICHMOND INTRAMURAL FLOOR HOCKEY TOURNAMENT REAL CRUNCHING SUCCESS RICHMOND CAMPUS EXTENDS CHALLENGE TO OTHERS TO MEET AT FLOOR HOCKEY At Sea Island Forum, Richmond, Friday, Feb 21, a Douglas College intramural Floor Hockey tournament was held. In excess of 70 players and spectators were on hand for the action as four Richmond teams represented in the double knock- out tournament, won by the Rich- mond Blues. The Blues won the Final, 4-1, stomping on the Gold who finished second, with Reds | and Whites coming in third and fourth respectively. For winning, the Blues were awarded the trophy, and each play- er received a Douglas College Warehouse T-shirt and a bottle of wine, both donated by Richmond Campus Student Council. The Blues recorded scores of 5-0 against Whites and two 4-1 wins over Gold. In individual performances, Brad Berrow recorded the only Shut Out of the Tournament, playing for the Blues against Whites. In games Two and Three Brad played stand~ out defence. Norm Kling played Goal, Games Two and Three for Blues, and made many tough saves. Norm recorded a 1.00 Goals-Agin' average for the night. Those who really helped him achieve this average were Paul MacDonald, Paul Cox, and Brian Emery, who were steady, tough, hard-hitting de- fencemen. Brian Emery was also very effective in rushing the puck and setting up many scoring oppor- tunities. The Blue offence was a mixture of muscle, provided by Ken Nason, Rod Miller and Al Huff, and speed, turned on by Brian Klassen, Mark Nomura, Pete Thornly and Dan Scho- Field. The scoring punch was a 4-goal per- formance by Pete Thornly, and 2-goal evenings by Mark Nomura, Dan Scho- = field, Ken Nason and Al Huff. The night wasn't without its violence, fun and mishaps. Several fights broke out due to the pressures of the game. Brad Berrow's nose was broken in a goal-front mishap, and Pete Thornly, while on a breakaway was knocked from behind and sailed up and over the goal, taking the whole thing with him. Surprisingly, he wasn't injured. It was a very successful evening, with plenty of supporters providing encour- agement. Richmond Campus, however, would like to extend an invitation to the Surrey and New West Campuses to form teams and challenge us, so that we, Richmond Campus, may prove once again that we are the SUPERIOR campus, as we did last year by winning the Basketball tournament!
