It is also a means by which individuals and educational groups can be enriched and grow to optimum human potential. Lifelong learning opportunities are an important requirement to enable the individual to function in a constantly changing world, and are necessary on a continuing basis. Equal opportunity is a desirable goal, and educational opportunities must be accessible to all, including those who might lack ready access to other post-secondary institutions. Therefore: (a) Educational activities must take into account widely differing levels and kinds of knowledge, learning styles, ability levels and skills and sensitivity. (b) The College must organize its affairs so that limitations bearing upon the individual can be wholly or partially overcome: for example, geographical, economic and handicapping conditions which create physical, mental and emotional limitations, and social demands and expectations. (c) Curriculum must be varied, flexible and segmented sufficiently to allow the diverse application of similar subject matter. (d) Guidance, counselling and learning support services must be made available to students. Educational opportunities must be comprehensive and, therefore, commitment to any one program or field of learning activity must be limited, in order to maintain the College's role as a comprehensive education institution. In providing learning opportunities, the College is one of a complex of institutions and must co-ordinate its offerings with those of other institutions and agencies. Education should be responsive to changing needs and, therefore, curriculum should be continually reviewed and, as necessary, revised. Education should be part of a democratic process and, therefore, representatives of all sectors of the College community - students, faculty and staff, should be involved in the College governance system.
