ANNOUNCEMENT Ed Redmond, Dean of Applied Programs, is retiring on August 31, 1983. In due course, we will have a chance to extend to Ed our best wishes for his future activities. The position of Dean of Applied Programs will be advertised early in the new year, in order to provide an adequate amount of time for interviewing and selection for this critical position. We hope that the new incumbent will be available to assume responsibility as of September 1, 1983. In the meantime, I am assigning Ed as Staff Assistant to the Principal, in order to ensure that a number of critical tasks can be performed over the spring. His primary responsibility will be to: (a) develop appropriate information for the Lower Mainland Cooperative Planning Group by which the College and Institute offerings on the Lower Mainland can be analysed. (b) be responsible for the development and writing of the College 5 Year Educational Plan according to the guidelines to be provided shortly by the | Ministry. In carrying out this task, Ed will be using the information developed to date, and be 5 responding to criticisms of the existing draft Li plan offered from the Educational Policy & = Planning Committee. a > (c) coordinate a review, evaluation, and development wn = of recommendations regarding the governance < e system as per procedures agreed to last year. Oo =< (d) organize the college official opening in March. 3 QO I have assigned Gordon Gilgan, Dean of the Adademic Le Divison, as Acting Dean, Applied Programs Division. This dual role will necessitate some temporary internal arrangements in both Divisions, effective December 1, 1982.
