peaeene - 4- POUGLAS COLLEGE LIBRARY ARCHIVES / CONVERSION OF FACULTY POSITIONS FROM SESSIONAL APPOINTMENT TO REGULAR APPOINTMENT As you have already been advised, the new Collective Agreement be- tween the faculty and the College established a Conversion Committee under Clause 3:02 (k), whose purpose is to recommend to the College President new regular faculty positions to be converted from present sessional positions. In addition, the committee is to recommend a process whereby such recommendations may be reached in future years. Members of the committee are: David James (NW) Andy Andrews (NW) Fran Johnson (S) Bob Lisson (NW) George Porges (NW) Don Porter (R) Diana Wegner (R) Marilyn Smith (NW) - This memo is to request your recommendations for the establishment of new regular faculty positions by completing the attached form. Please remember, the Conversion Committee is concerned with reg- ularizing positions, not people. The standard selection process will prevail. We have tried to anticipate the information we think will be most helpful to us but in case we have missed key points, please feel free to comment at length under Item 7. Also, for your information, the committee does believe that flexibility is important, both from a discipline as well as a College perspective, so we encourage you to take this into consideration in making your recommendations. We apologize for the short lead time. However, this information must be submitted to the Dean's office by January 28 so that the committee may present its recommendations to the President by February 28 as required in the agreement. 2. seMaridyn Smith The Mad Hatter is a Douglas College Newsletter published weekly during the Spring and Fall semester, bi-monthly in the Summer semester, by Douglas College, P.O.
