West Graydon, Director of Physical Plant and Site Services, has been talking with Mr. Ken Winslade of New Westminster Parks and Recreation, regarding the specific implications of Douglas College use of Simcoe Park. On October 14, Mr. Gerry St. Germain, Member of Parliament for Mission-Port Moody visited Douglas College. October 17th, Mr. Bill Lewis of the Downtown New Westminster Association, visited the College to discuss appropriate Douglas College involvement as a neighbourhood institution with the Downtown New Westminster Association. Randi Duke will be attending the next meet- ing of the Board of Directors of that Association to make certain proposals. We have had informal word of another donation by the New © Westminster Rotary Club. The College is receiving $4,200 of equipment for the Cardiac Resuscitation Training Programs. In appreciation of this generous gift the College will be offering 2 CPR Training courses for the members of the Rotary Club. Upon formal receipt of information, I will be recommending suitable formal acknowledgement of the gift by the College Board. External Matters - Education On September 19th, G. DellaMattia, G. Gilgan, and I visited Trinity- Western College in Langley, in order to more fully acquaint ourselves with that institution, now that it is a degree-granting school. We were very impressed by the facilities, and the calibre of faculty and admini- stration. We will be issuing an invitation for a return visit in the near future. On behalf of Douglas College, I attended the installation of the new Presidents of U.B.C. and Simon Fraser University on September 26th. On September 27 and 28, the College hosted a Provincial Youth Employment Conference - organized by Malaspina and Douglas College. It was a highly successful event, and placed Randi Duke, Community Resource Development Officer, in contact with many people throughout the college and institutes system.
