Orientation sessions will be held on Au- st 26, from 6:30pm-9pm, and August 27, 2pm-4:30pm. Registration sessions will be: group/prior- ity registration, August 31, 9am-7pm; open registration, September 1-2, 8am-8pm, and September 3, 8am-4:30pm. @® Workshops set to go The College Wide Professional Committee will offer a trio of four-day Instructional Skills Workshops during the academic year, with the first beginning on August 24, The Instructional Skills Workshops are de- signed to allow both new and seasoned faculty to enhance their skills. Thomas and other board members were elected at the Association’s Annual General Meet- ing in June. Thomas, a Delta resident, is a Marketing Manager with Assistive Listening Device Systems Inc. Bruce Clarke, Douglas College’s Media Maintenance Assistant, was elected as vice-presi- dent. Suzanne Chamberlain was elected treasurer and Georgina Ferguson is the secretary. Others elected to the board were: Heather Campbell, Joanna Elrick, Adrianne Gunn, Marleen Lehti, Ken McKenna and Jodi Timlick. %® Get teed off The second annual Douglas College Foundation Golf Tournament is being held on August 27 at Port Coquitlam’s Carnoustie Golf and Country Club. As with last year’s tournament, the College has agreed that, where possible, employees will be allowed up to four hours off with pay to attend this event. Employees may tee off between noon and 2pm. Proceeds from the tournament will be used to provide student scholarships and bursaries. Tickets are $75, including a dinner. An income tax receipt will be issued for a portion of the fee. To register call Alana at 5322. 7 Knowles named to committee Douglas College Community Programmer Janet Knowles has joined a steering committee established by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology. The committee is carrying out consultation leading to the creation of a B.C. Training and Adjustment Board. According to the Ministry, the new board "will direct provincial train- ing, re-training and labor market adjustment policy and programs." Knowles, selected through her work with the Women’s Employment Training Coalition, will represent women’s groups on the committee. A
