MAD HATTER PAGE 15 Summer Term 1982 The Management Committee has approved a plan for a limited summer term offering this year. This offering must be orchestrated in such a fashion that instruction and services continue to be of high quality, while at the same time an orderly move into the new building can take place. For this reason, Management Committee has agreed that the college will not offer any laboratory sciences, but that Kwantlen College will be encouraged to offer appropriate sciences courses. The general level of offerings will be approx- imately 50% of our previous pattern. That is, we expect that offerings from the four academic departments and the business department would total approximately 20 sections (as contrasted to the previous offering level of 45.) A person will be named as administrator of Ithe summer term in due course. In the meantime, all divisions will play their accustomed roles. Gerry DellaMattia, Dean of Education & Student Services, will ensure that appropriate instruction is given the other divisions regarding time- table deadlines, information for students, space allocations, etc. Gordon Gilgan, Dean of Academic Studies, and Ed Redmond, Dean of Applied Programs, are responsible for seeing to it that special summer term offerings are provided on schedule. - the Library and the Sciences labaratories| Notice TO: DOUGLAS COLLEGE BOARD FROM: wW.L. DAY RE: SUMMER SCHOOL The Building Progyam is sufficiently advanced that we can now plan on a move of the majority of the College programs into the new building during the period May 1, to September 1, 1982. In order to accomplish this move, both will be out of action for a significant block of time. The Management Committee has agreed that College offerings must be maintained at an adequately high standard. Therefore, we intend to offer a summer program running from May 15 to June 30, 1982, only. The rate of offerings is intended to be about 50% of last years level (approx- imately 20-25 sections as opposed to 40-45). No Sciences ‘courses will be 5 offered, but Kwantlen College will be urged to offer replacement courses.
