A Douglas Col lege Newslette = Monday, September 10, 1979 DOUGLAS COLLEGE LIBRARY, CLASS IV LICENSES ARCHIVE Do you take your classes on Field Trips? If so, have you taken your class IV Driver's Examination yet? If not, please arrange to do so. It was brought to our attention last spring that Lf you transport students in a vehicle equipped to accomodate ten or more persons you must hold a Class IV driver's licence in order for your/our insurance to be valid. There are many areas which use 12, 15 and 17-passenger vans rented from Budget. You require a Class IV licence to operate these vans. Renting these vans is still the most economical way of transporting your students. An average field trip costs approximately $40.00 - $50.00, whereas using other methods of transportation an average field trip would cost. a minimum of $60.00 (for two hours) for a small group and $80.00 for a large group. If the majority of your field trips can be accomodated with Budget vans and you don't currently hold a Class IV licence, please telephone me and I will give you information on how to get your licence and make the necessary arrangements for vehicle rental. I can be reached at local 274 in New Westminster. .e..-Devona Davies BROKEN IBM TYPING ELEMENTS Don't throw your broken IBM typing elements away. They can be repaired. With the exception of broken letters, almost all defects can be repaired by a firm in Ontario. A couple of things to remember though - the firm that repairs the elements is based in Ontario and will accept elements for repair only in lots of five, so if you require a replacement element immediately please complete a requisi- tion form and forward it to the Purchasing Department with your broken element. In any case, your repaired element will be returned to you when we receive it back. All this for only $12.00 as opposed to $25.00. wivene. © Devona Davies © TROT a
