ree-wheeling orum ank you to all who contributed to the rum’s success. It was a comfortable, wheeling environment which started along the road to hearing and derstanding student interests and ncerns. The students were very iculate. I will schedule, with others, another a spring date. John McKendry President SMT oach of the year ot to blame writing in response*to Geoff cDonald’s article concerning the men’s d women’s volleyball provincial ampionships in Kelowna. In his icle, Mr. McDonald made some ks which were wildly inaccurate opinions @op.douglas.bc.ca and fraught with ignorance. His most glaring error is his attempt at portraying himself as an insightful and experienced volleyball journalist/analyst. On two separate occasions, Mr. McDonald essentially blames coach Susan Sharpe for the 3-1 loss to OUC on the fact that she made virtually no substitutions. This blatant attack on coach Sharpe’s judgement is totally uncalled for seeing as Sue Sharpe was this year’s BCCAA Coach of the Year. Call me crazy, but I think that Sue has a little more experi- ence and expertise in this area than our esteemed Geoff McDonald. Also, the same six players who were on the floor virtually the entire final were the same players who defeated the Malaspina Mariners in a thrilling five set semi-final. These were also the same six players who carried the team for most of the second half of the season. Four of the starting six were provincial all-stars. These players were heavily relied upon time and time again over the course of the season and invariably they would come through with a blistering kill or unimaginable dig. During the less than stellar play in the final, there was never a doubt in my mind that these ladies would pull through for us. Unfortu- nately for us, OUC played their match of the year. I appreciate Geoff McDon- ald’s and the OP’s support during the course of the season and this week’s edition is the first time I can recall volleyball making the front page. However, please refrain from passing judgement of DC’s coaching staff until you have acquired understanding of what exactly goes into building a championship calibre program. I firmly stand by the decisions of coach Sue Sharpe.
