Se Well you can’t say we didn’t warn you. The Council of Ministers of Education, Canada is inviting written views on the current Student Assistance and is. reviewing current alternative programs for post-secondary students. The shiny new ad that is being run in college and university papers is asking for feed back on student aid. We do not know what the end result could be, but if too few students become active, the voice of the students could be forgotten. The Ministry is asking for any or all aspects of student assistance including the modification or replacement for existing policies and programs on both federal and provincial governments. Hmmm. Sounds like some students may be abusing the system, or not getting enough money, right? Whatever the case may be only 10% of the population of Canada makes it to post-secondary education. This, in itself, may indicate that our institutes of higher learning may not be as accesible as we think them to If a large enough number of students made it known that there are modifications need to the student aid program the government, be it federal or provincial, would have to act accordingly. Of course, if not enough views are expressed then there may be cutbacks in the student assistance program, or tougher guidelines for students to become eligible. We suggest that all students should take time to think about how they are going to fund their education, anc then offer some feed-back to the government. After all, it’s our government. nt Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Anarchy is as absolute as communism and both doctrines can only be presented in an extremely dogmatic manner. People from either end of the political spectrum have no use for those at the other end and even less use for those in the middle. This is because both communists and right wing libertarians believe that there is a one word answer to be found and they have it. This is where they go wrong, for there is a lot to be ‘said for being ‘‘wishy washy’’. Liberatarians believe that government is not natural and that if man were not governed he would continue to survive and would indeed excell his advancement at an even greater rate than he is moving. Communists on the other hand believe that since man has the ability to think in terms of controlled destiny and government; government to the point where it will no longer be needed and the ‘‘state shall wither away.’ The wishy washy point of view (and all powerful and successful countries in the world today are wishy washy) is looking toward better government but are not blind to the fact that utopian society is virtually unattainable. cs The middle of the road being the eclectic mess that is is, is much more difficult to understand and work with but it is a political stance which allows one to look at all the alternatives and to look out for any dangers which on arise from blind dogma. oF (asians manager: Dave S.
