Before joining Douglas College, Walton worked at the B.C. Institute of Technology for 15 years as Supervisor of Admis- sions and Registration. Leaving B.C.LT. after so many years was dif- ficult, says Walton, but al- ready she’s been im- pressed by the calibre and dedica- tion of staff at Douglas Col- lege, par- ticularly in the - Registrar’s Of- fice. "I’m im- pressed at the lengths of ser- vice most employees have in the Registrar’s Office," she says. "They must be happy here - that in itself is comforting." Walton looks forward to her future at Douglas College and the prospect of changes in the registration system to meet the growing needs of the college. "It’s exciting to be in on the ground floor - to be involved with the college and helping to adapt procedures of registration for the future," she says. Gladys Loewen Disabled Student Services Attention Staff! The Education and Training Fund is almost depleted. Out of the $5600 allotted by the College for the fiscal year 1990/91 (April/90 - March 31/91), there is $550 remaining. We are very pleased to see that 21 employees to date have received assistance from this fund to further their educational goals. The remaining funds will be al- lotted on a first-come, first-served basis. Jim Doerr & Brenda Jack Library Orientation Fall 1990 All instructors are invited to bring their classes to the library for library orientation. Booking forms have been distributed via the departmental assistants, or book- ings may be made by phone to Jac- quie Ticknor, Library Orientation Assistant, at local 5198. The orientation session nor- mally takes one hour, and consists of a short introduction to the library by a librarian and the com- pletion of a self-paced assignment, the Library Lab, by the students. The assignments are marked and returned to the instructor for return to the students. It is appreciated if the instruc- tor accompanies the students to the Library.
