Musical Reunion At Douglas College Anticipation is mounting for a dynamic performance by French- born flutist Isabelle Chapuis when she joins local pianist Ellen Silverman at Douglas Col- lege on March 23. Their program will be a progressive mix of works by Schubert, Bach, Charles Marie Widor, and contemporary classical com- posers John Downey and John Corigliano. "Isabelle (Chapuis) is always a popular draw - she always comes off on stage as very beautiful and charming," says long-time friend Silverman. "She’s romantic and sensitive in her approach to music, and I think audiences respond to that very strongly.” French-born flutist, Isabelle Chapuis, joins local pianist Ellen | Silverman at Douglas College on | March 23. Chapuis, lauded world-wide for her recitals and solo perfor- mances with orchestras, currently makes her home in San Francisco and is a professor of flute at California State University. Testament to her popularity came in 1987 when she was invited by the National Flute Association to perform a 7 program of French music before more than two thousand profes- sional flutists.
