INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / OCTOBER 17, 1989 Alumni Basketball Stars Ready to Battle Royals Ticket sales are brisk for the Royals versus Royals Alumni bas- ketball games and social on Oc- tober 20, 1989 from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am at Douglas College. The games have piqued the interest of students and alumni alike. "Our former basketball stars really enjoy coming back to play the current teams” says Athletics and Intramurals Co-ordinator Betty- Lou Hayes. “Last year the alumni team won in an exciting and hard fought match. The current men’s and women’s basketball teams are even more determined to take the title this year.” Some alumni stars to watch out for in the men’s game include Rick Message and Chris Shriek, mem- bers of the University of Victoria Vikings. On the women’s team, keep an eye on Lorraine Marken, currently playing for the UBC Two Airline Tickets to an International Destination To Be Won at Homecoming Ball Canadian Airlines International has generously donated two free air passes to an international destination to be awarded as door prizes at the Homecoming Ball October 21, 1989. The ball will be held at the Hotel Geor- gia in Vancouver. The passes, and other exciting prizes, will be drawn during the first intermission of the live band performance at the gala ball. The excitement is building and tickets for the ball are selling fast. Ted Jang, president of the Alumni Association noted “we've had a great response from both alumni and past and present employees at Douglas Col- lege.” Former College Board Chairman Helen Casher and Cliff Murnane are among the College trustees planning to attend. Bill and Lydia Morfey plan to come down for the event from Merritt where they are happily enjoy- ing retirement. Keep an eye out for former Douglas and Kwantlen College employees such as Roger Elmes, Jim Urquhart, Bob Lisson and Andrew McAdam. As one of our University Transfer alumni noted “It sounds like a great time. I hope to get a table of eight of my friends together for the event.” This is the last week to get your tickets.
