PURPOSE OF THE COMMITTEE

The Committee will provide or co-ordinate "outreach" communication
and/or assistance to Bargaining Unit members under special circumstances,
such as prolonged illness, bereavement, termination of employment,
occasions for celebration. The Committee will treat as confidential
all information regarding staff which might be of a private nature.

STRUCTURE OF COMMITTEE

Table Officers: Chairperson
Secretary
Treasurer
Co-ordinators (2)

Volunteers will be requested and a Committee appointed by the Bargaining
Unit Chairperson. The Chairperson of the Committee to be appointed by
the Committee. The Secretary and Treasurer to be appointed by the
Committee.

FUNCTION OF THE COMMITTEE
The Committee will act as follows on behalf of the Bargaining Unit:

A. Communicate with staff members who are away from the College due
to i11 health or injury. This communication could include:

(i) sending a card;

(ii) sending flowers or fruit basket;

(iii) visiting the staff member at home or in hospital;

(iv) providing assistance as required;

(v) sending a copy of the Mad Hatter and any other
information the staff member might wish to receive
from the College.

B. Communicate with staff members who have suffered a bereavement or
are celebrating a birth in the family.

C. Arrange for a farewell tribute to staff who are leaving the College.
