Please contact the Athletic Update 2nd Annual Women’s Volleyball Tournament at Douglas College October 13-14 On October 13 & 14 the Douglas College Women’s Vol- leyball team began the season by hosting the 2nd Annual Royal In- vitational. After round robin play VCC was firmly situated in first place, with a 4-0 record, while there was a three way tic for 2nd place with Douglas, Trinity Western, and Grande Prairie, all with records of 2 & 2. Selkirk College rounded out the pool with an 0 & 4 record. Due to the tie breaking format used, Trinity Western came 2nd followed by Grande Prairie and Douglas Col- lege. In the semi-finals, Douglas met arch rival VCC with VCC prevail- ing 3-0 (15-10, 15-10, 15-12) while T.W.U. defeated Grande Prairie 3-1 (17-15, 11-15, 15-11, 15-5). Ina rematch of last year’s tournament and conference final, VCC once again prevailed by a score of 3-0 (15-13, 15-9, 15-5). Tournament all-stars team consisted of: Jennifer Henrickson, Grande Prairie Carol Dolan, T.W.U. Erin Duon, VCC Karen Vekic, VCC Tanya Hall, Douglas Tournament M.V.P. for the second year running was Tammie Jay, VCC. Golf Tournament #3 at Fraser Valley College October 14-15 Parry Falters at Ledgeview The fifth and sixth rounds of the BCCAA golf championships were played over the beautiful Ledgeview Golf Course in Ab- botsford on October 14th and 15th. Fourth round leader Bryn Parry of Douglas College had a tough two days scoring rounds of 81 and 82. Meanwhile, Kevin Greenard of Malaspina College put on a charge with rounds of 78 and 72 to take over the individual aggregate lead with a total of 466. He is followed by Paul Whittingham at 467 with Parry in third spot at 470. The final rounds will be played at Seymour Golf and Country Club next weekend, and Parry feels con- fident he can overtake Greenard and Whittingham. Team standings after four rounds are: 1.
