wearing bright colors and funky designs
that you normally wouldn’t wear is. half
the fun while you’re up on the mountain.

An ultra-bright, crazily patterned,
and ridiculously miss-matched attire is
the usual dress code while snowboarding
or skiing; most riders will opt to wear
something that is super bright and crazy
to make up for the similarity that most
boarders adhere to. Your standard jacket,

pants, gloves, and toque need to be worn
in order to keep warm, however, keeping
warm doesn’t necessarily mean that you
need to look standard and boring.

Contraband bindings are the latest
technology in snowboarding gear. With
a step-in strap instead of the traditional
ratchet toe strap, these bindings are
incredibly responsive and take less
time to take on and off in-between lifts.
While they may look like a replication
of a sandal with a thin strap coming up
between the middle of your boot, the
Contraband bindings so far have been a
hit with snowboarding buffs and are the
anticipated design for all new bindings.

In 2008, Burton released the
snowboard “Love* Series to the dismay of
parents all over the globe, which consisted
of four different playboy models in the
nude as their main design. While most
would argue that nude girls and extreme
sports go hand in hand and all you would
need to perfect the day is a stiff drink,
parents were less than thrilled to see
that naked women were the marketing
attraction for their boys sporting gear.
This year, Burtons ~Love* Series for 2011
features vintage play girls fully clothed in
sexy outfits dressed as shipmates, nurses,
and cowgirls, and comes fully equipped
with all the same advantages featured
with the previously designed board, minus

If you don’t have the cash to spend
frivolously on the latest boarding gear,
pick something flashy and fun to wear

‘on your head; a crazy toque or stylish

goggles go a long way. Up the mountain,
I have seen it all; you have the style savvy
seasoned boarders whose skill and trendy
designs place them in a category all their
own, but then you have the beginners
and middle men who will wear just about
anything to stand out. Jester hats, animal
toques, scarves adorned with bells, neon
and gold goggles, and even a full-on
banana suit over top the ski jacket and
pants. With all the new designs, colors,
and trends, every run becomes a catwalk
