DOUGLAS COLLEGE BOARD: Mad Hatter Page 10 -?- I have had discussions with Mayor Baker regarding the possibility of Douglas College becoming involved more actively with educational activities and exchanges with the City of Moriguchi - New Westminster's twin city in Japan. Mayor Baker was very interested in the idea, and we have agreed that the matter will be pursued. On December 3, Mr. Walter Hogg and I were invited to meet with the joint committee on Institutional Evaluation of the Ministry of Education and the Council of Principals. That committee is very interested in our Administrative Review process and outcomes. Douglas College has been asked to host a provincial workshop on the subject of Institutional Evaluation, in the early Spring. Mr. Doerr is dealing with the proposal. On December 3 and 4, the Council of Principals held its bi-monthly meeting, and held a farewell celebration in honour of Dr. Frank Beinder, retiring Executive Director of the BCAC. C. As a result of that meeting, analysis work has been carried out over the past week. Today, I presented certain concerns of the College administration to Dr. Fisher in Victoria. Dr. Fisher under- stands clearly our concerns, and has assured me that Ministry staff is reviewing the initial proposals carefully. There will be a meeting on December 20, of Ministry staff with Chief Executive Officers of the Provincial Colleges and Institutes at which a more definitive profile will be presented to all institutions. It is understood that January 15th will be the working cut-off date, following which, institutions are expected to make appropriate plans for the next fiscal year.
