It’s a global jungle out there, and now students at Douglas College are getting into the arena of international commerce with their peers in Central Europe. They’re doing it through Business 470, a course that pits teams of students against each other competing for market share and profits in a simulated market. Douglas College’s Year- in-Review — 1994 s we all try to remember to write 1995 on our cheques, here’s a look back at some of the people and events which made news at Douglas College in 1994. January Betsy Senyk was named as the College’s newly created position of First Nations Student Coordinator...A new Standards of Conduct policy to make the College safer was unveiled. The new standards amalgamated three existing policies and defined different categories of behavior that could be threatening or disruptive - and the disciplinary action that could be taken. February With the support of a $250,000 endowment from the Real Estate Foundation of B.C., the College’s Institute of Urban Ecology unveiled a five-year plan addressing local environmental issues. The grant allowed the Institute to be the first of its kind in a Canadian college...With a new hardwood floor in the gym, the Athletics Department won its first bid to host a Canadian Colleges Athletic Association continued on page 4
