Super genes...

“She gets it all from her
father,” claims Gordon Gil-
gan, Dean of the Academic
Division, after his daughter
Megan’s recent string of ath-
letic triumphs. First, she
captained the New
Westminster Hyacks to the
Senior Girl’s AAA Provincial
High School Basketball Cham-
pionship. Then, in her first
ever rowing competition at
the Green Lake International
Regatta in Washington, she
came first in 1500m singles
and 1500m eights with coxes
and third in the 1500m fours
with cox. Way to go, Megan
(and father).

Ore-gone...
Also heading down
to Oregon in the near
future is the PIO’s Wal-
ter Melnyk. Walter’s send-off
present was a badminton victory

 

 

 

 

 

The air in the concourse was thick with paper airplanes on
March 25 as the Douglas College Foundation raised eyer
$200 at D.C. Air Il 1992. President Bill Day launched a
papyrus projectile or two of his own.

Committee on their very successful opening reception for
the Amelia Douglas Gallery on April 2. Faces in the crowd
included Committee members (I to r) Caroline Sadler,
Sabine Mabardi, Helen Rowan and Lillian Zimmerman. If
you haven’t had a chance yet, be sure to take in the
gallery’s current display of Christopher Woods’ paintings.

Programmer Susan Hammond is
no exception. She’s expecting her
second child in October.

Jennifer Getsinger clearly knows
something about biology. How-
ever, she teaches Geology, not
Biology as we reported.

Badminton cleans up

Two members of the badmin-
ton team and their coach almost
swept the honours at the Athletic
Awards Banquet April 1. Male
Athlete of the Year went to Chris
Trenhome, Female Athlete of the
Year went to Chantal Jobin, while
Coach of the Year went to Arif
“Al” Mawani. Congratulations on
a great year.
