UNIVERSITY-TRANSFER TRACKING STUDY © Purpose To identify those new students entering Douglas College during the Fall 1986 semester who intend to transfer to a university. To determine how many actually transfer and the reasons why some do not transfer. Rationale At the present, the U-T statistics are fraught with definitional and statistical problems. The Ministry places all Academic students in the University-Transfer category. This classification, we believe, is not accurate because a large proportion of our Academic students enroll in General Studies (29%) and do not appear to have any intention of transferring to a university. We are also © of the opinion that not all students registered in the University- Transfer program intend to transfer. Benefits The study will determine the percentage of Academic students who intend to transfer to a university, the percentage who do transfer, and how long after enrolling in the College they do transfer. It will also determine the reasons why students who intended to transfer, do not. The study will also provide comparisons between those who intend to transfer and those who do not intend to transfer. It will also assist the College in evaluating the outcomes of the Academic program.
