Thursday, March 5, the Royals ran into the sixth ranked host Grand Prairie Wolves. Douglas fought and clawed for every point but in the end fell to the Wolves, three games to one. Ken Kleindienst had an amazing 26 kills, along with Darryl McCrady’s 3 aces and Darren Gross’ 4 blocks to lead the Royals. Friday, March 6 brought the Royals face-to-face with their old foes, the UCC Sun Demons. Douglas almost dismissed the Sun Demons in embarrassing fashion, winning the first two games 15-8 and 15-4 before squeaking out a 16-14 victory to take the match in three straight games. The third/fifth place game on Saturday, March 7, had the Royals squaring off against the Loyalist Lancers from Ontario. In this hotly contested battle, Douglas won the first game, lost the next two and then won the fourth game 15-12 to set up the fifth and deciding game. A win was not in the cards for the Royals on this day, as they fell to the Lancers, 15—12 to finish fifth. Darren Gross had 4 blocks and Ryan Henley had 17 kills for the Royals.
