Colleges Act. conclusions appears below: Dev Shergill CTORS ClaTION the Ad Hoc Conmittee reached in its meeting of June 25, The following conclusions were the consensus of 1973 regarding the future governance of the regional colleges: 1. Regional colleges should have a single governing body and a flexible and individual approach to internal organizations. 2. The size of colleqe councils: Maximum size of a college council should be 20. 3. Colleg? regions: The government should establish college regions to involve the entire province. Proliferation of institutions should be avoided. 4. Composition of college councils? Elected - one-third Appointed by Lieutenant-Governor in Council - one-thira Internal selection from students, faculty and non-teaching staff - one-third. 5. Tenure of Councilors: Students - elected every year Faculty - elected every year Staff - elected every year Governnent appointees - two years Elected representatives - two years Council duties: a . (a) to assume the entire responsibility for fiscal policy, including hiring, firing, acquiring, negotiating and preparing budget expenditures; (b) to lay down general educational policies for the college;
