Open your eyes eto the DC Vision Cent The DC Vision Centre, the brand-new optical facility at the David Lam Campus, is now ready to welcome you. Affiliated with the Dispensing Optician Program, the Centre provides a retail optical outlet for the entire Douglas College community, their families, and the general public. “College employees and students, as well as their family members, will receive preferred prices,” says Program Coordinator Glen Oxenbury. “Our pricing system should allow for savings of about 30% compared to the marketplace.” Robert Dawson, recently appointed as DC Vision Centre optician and retail manager, will oversee the facility, located on the second floor of the new campus. Hours will be Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm, and appointments are not necessary. Payment can be made by cash, cheque, VISA, or MasterCard, with plans in the works for Interact and direct billing to employees’ extended medical plans. Oxenbury adds that because of its close ties to the Dispensing Optician Program, he’s convinced the DC Vision Centre will set the highest standards of practice, to reflect the quality of materials and dispensing skills demanded in the profession today. “Tt’s essential for our students to gain experience in state-of-the-art products, the manufacturing process, and the compounds used to create frames, lenses, and contact lenses. The key word in all of this, and in our attention to customers, is quality.” 9 Murderous comedy and more...
