First Nations services reviewed New Westminster MLA Anita Hagen (centre) was on campus February 2 to review the many partnerships that have been established between Doulgas College and First Nations groups in the community. Hagen is recognized for the work she’s done with First Nations constituents in her New Westminster riding. Joining her was Jenna Dupuis (left), Director of the Raven Program, and Betsy Bruyere (right), Douglas College’s First Nations Services Coordinator. note from lincoln centre Valerie Gobeil is now doing Academic Advising at the Lincoln Centre one day per week, Mondays from 8:30 to 4:30. There is a need for this service because so many Douglas College students live in Coquitlam, so it’s often easier for them to see an advisor there. Also, it’s a way to let people know that there are services in Coquitlam in advance of the opening of the Pinetree Way campus. A different information session on a College program will be held every Monday afternoon, beginning with business programs and UT transfer business on March 13. Call Val at the Lincoln Centre at 945-8977 for more information. note from thomas haney centre On February 13, Director Marian Rossell met with senior officials from the Maple Ridge School District, BCIT, Maple Ridge Secondary School and Thomas Haney Secondary School to review the work of the partnership to date and to pursue new opportunities. On February 27, she met with representatives from University College of the Fraser Valley to discuss potential linkages between the Thomas Haney Centre and UCFV’s campus in Mission -- the two campuses aren’t far apart. ll Quote of the Month: "There is a magic about the spring - some power that revives half-dead hopes and faiths and thrills numbed souls with the elixir of new life." - Lucy Maude Montgomery
