DOUGLAS COLLEGE ARCHIVES Report The dates for the next CFF A.G.M. to be held at VCC (Langara) are May 9-11, 1974. If you can offer any suggestions re the programming please contact Dave Mitton at Langara Campus. Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) will hold its A.G.M. Oct. 28-31 1974 in Quebec City. ACCC acts as a clearing house for information among the member organizations. Dave Mitton (Langara) is a member of its Board of Directors and Howard Eaton (Douglas) is the B.C. Regional Representative. Dave Mitton recommended that CFF consider Associate Organizational Membership in the ACCC for $100.00 annually. The Directors were directed to ascertain the views of their associations re this recommendation. I would appreciate hearing your views - for or against. The CFF Executive reaffirmed, in the interest of free and open communication between it and its member associations, the availability and willingness of its officers and directors to visit the member associations, for their executive committee meetings as well as their general meetings to answer any auestions pertaining to the CFF. President Livesey reported on his visit to the Okanagan College Faculty Association general meeting earlier this month. Douglas and Langara delegates had received letters from their administrations concerning the attendance by their faculty members at association meetings on working days. None of the other college administrations had raised the issue. Even the delegate from Vancouver Vocational Institute, not even a member of the CFF, encountered no administrative problem for attendance at our meeting by invitation. Malaspina College even provides quarter time release from teaching duties to its Faculty Association President. The CFF has established good rapport with the 'new' Department of Education. Ernie Livesey and I had managed to have a short private meeting with Mrs. Dailly during her visit to the Langara Campus this summer. She assured us of CFF participation in the matters that concern colleges. One tangible sign of this ts the membership on the Task Force on Melding for Ernie Livesey. This Task Force was set up as a result of Gordon Ingells', past president, CFF, meeting with Mrs. Datily®in-Apri1"3973- On Sept. 15th Ernie Livesey, Brian Webster (Selkirk) and I had breakfast meeting with John Brewer, Education Commissioner,in Kamloops. A meeting of the CFF and SVI executives and the Presidents of the College Faculty Associations with John Brewer has been tentatively scheduled for the middle of October 1973.
