TITLE: CURRICULUM APPROVAL VARIANCE POLICY Effective Date: New: Revision: Replaced: Page of POLICY STATEMENT: The Administration of the College is responsible for the timely implementation of curriculum in order to meet commitments to students enrolled in programs/courses. PROCEDURES/RULES STATEMENT: In situations where curriculum has not completed the governance review cycle and postponing implementation is judged to be detrimental to student's progress, the matter will be referred to the Divisional Dean for decision. A. The Chairman/Director will request the Divisional Dean in writing, with supporting rationale, for a temporary variance from the governance review cycle. B. The Divisional Dean will review process to date, the proposed course outline(s), relevant documentation and make a decision. Cc. In the event that the Divisional Dean approves offering the proposed course(s) prior to the completion of the governance cycle, a notice to that effect will be tabled at the next Management Committee meeting and Divisional Education Committee meeting. D. The Divisional Dean will advise the Registrar of the decision. The Registrar will publish the proposed course(s) in relevant college publications only for the academic year in question. E. The Chairman/Director will place the proposed course(s) on the next agenda of the appropriate governance committee for consideration.
