- INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / JANUARY 31, 1989 ATHLETIC UPDATE HOCKEY: The Royals tied BCIT 5-5 Saturday, Jan. 21 at Port Moody Arena, in a fast- skating, hard-hitting game with few penalties. The Royals led 2- 1 in the first, 4-2 after the second, and almost lost the game in the third, as BCIT pulled ahead 5-4. Al Wall scored his second goal of the game with 2:12 left to tie the score. Single goals came from Glen Bulawka, Frank Pakodzy, and Shawn Hokanson. VOLLEYBALL: The women’s team played the #2 ranked Red Deer College Queens on Saturday, Jan. 21. Douglas lost 3-0, with scores of 15-7, 15-5, 15-13. Although the scores in the first game seem a bit one-sided, they were by no means any indication of the type of play. The Royals played a very hard and intense match. BADMINTON: The Douglas College Badminton team par- ticipated in the 3rd tournament of the season held at BCIT. Douglas finished in 3rd place, behind a very strong Malaspina team and the host BCIT team. The next tournament will be held at Douglas College on Feb. 18., beginning at 9:30 am.
