Encore‘Contért Series Jean-Paul Sevilla Plays French Piano Music You don’t have to go to Paris to celebrate the 200th anniver- sary of the French Revolution. Acclaimed pianist Jean-Paul Sevilla will commemorate the revolution with a performance featuring works by three modern French composers. The concert on Friday, January 20, is presented by Douglas College and the New Westminster Arts Council. Henry Waack, instructor in the Douglas College Music Department, says, "The entire Encore Series this year has fea- tured largely French music, in tribute to the upcoming anniver- sary of the French Revolution." Sevilla’s performance will in- clude "Theme and Variations, Fugue et Chanson" by Vincent d’Indy, "Suite" by Albert Rous- sel, and twelve preludes selected from the two books of Preludes, by Claude Debussy. Born in Algeria, Jean-Paul Sevilla studied music at the Con- servatoire de Paris and has subsequently performed in all parts of Europe, Africa, North and South America.
