Contest challenges youth to depict nature's hiding spots If you have family or friends between the ages of 6 and 17 who live in Burnaby, New Westminster, Tri-Cities, Surrey, Delta and Vancouver, tell them to break out the crayons and paint. The Nature’s Hiding Spots colouring and poster contest, sponsored by Douglas College’s Institute of Urban Ecology, challenges children and teens to find nature in the city, no matter how big or small. Parks and forests are teeming with nature, but nature in the city is harder to find. It can be found in city parks, backyards or balconies and is often hidden in unexpected places. The contest has four categories, with a colouring sheet available for younger students. Interested students can contact the Institute to receive a contest package. Category 1: Ages 6-7 Colouring contest Category 2: Ages 8-9 Colouring contest Category 3: Ages 10-13 Poster contest Category 4: Ages 14-17 Poster contest The deadline for entries is June 21 and winners will be announced June 28.
