Canadian designer hits high street

graduated from Central Saint Martins School of Art
and Design. Notorious for fashion-forward style, London
was the perfect place to go for this Winnipeg designer. At
28, Mark Fast has created his own clothing line completely
out of knitwear, which has become a new and very popular
line added to Topshop in London.

Fast’s knitwear clothing line consists of garments
that hug the body and skims over every curve; his latest
line explores the relationship of the clothing to the body
as he shapes the clothes to the individual. Playing with
different textures and using different and original stitching
techniques, Fast works with lycra, angora, and wool to
create his knitwear. Fitted, sleek, and alluring, the clothes
feature sharp contrasting colors and richly embellished
patterns to generate a different look. With lace tops, and
fringed bottomed skirts, Fast’s line makes knitwear trendy
and chic.

A huge hit in the U.K. right now, Fast collaborated
with legendary Christian Louboutin on shoes for his spring
and summer collection that
will be presented during
Fashion Week on February
24th. Unfortunately,

Fast’s clothing line is only
available in London right
now (not that a student
could afford his clothes
anyway), but it’s inspiring
and exciting to hear that a
Canadian designer has hit
the high street!

This spring knitting is
in; so look for fitted tops and
mini skirts in heavy textures
and bright colors, or you can
even pick up some knitting
needles and create some
clothes yourself.
