PAGE 6 March 29, 1985 editorial——— ee Board meetings a mo The idea of no ex-officio members on the college board is slowly begin- ning to sink into the regular business of the top ruling body at Douglas College. Twice this week student president Jesse Sedhu was shot down while trying to make presentations to the college board. Even regular board members, as opposed to chair Gerry Trerise, are calling Sedhu, and faculty vice president Len Millis out of order when they speak. Things do not bode well for the state of democracy in. Douglas College. The board allows Sedhu to speak when he wants to congratulate them on the occasional bauble thrown his way, but when meatier issues, such as tuition increases and application fees come up, no such luck. Slowly, the board meetings are turning into a mockery. More evidence of this can be seen in the delayed negotiations with the faculty associa- tion over their latest, and quite possibly last contract.
