INSIDE DOUGLAS COLLEGE / MARCH 5, 1991 College Career Fair Is Sign of the Times When you are searching for that great job, it’s not always neces- sary to pound the pavement. [In fact, vou can cover a lot of asphalt at Douglas College’s Career Fair 1991. The fair will host over 30 of Canada’s leading banking, govern- ment, professional, and business agencies. It’s a great opportunity for the public as well as students to browse the job market, says Brigitte O’Rooney, Douglas College’s Alumni and Develop- ment Coordinator and the or- ganizer of Career Fair 1991. “Whether people are presently emploved or not, Career Fair 1991 gives tair-goers the chance to pur- sue potential career moves, or to meet others who share their oc- cupational interests.” Career Fair Committee Chair- person Vail Thomas says that there are many good reasons for people to attend the fair. “People learn about what is ex- pected of them in terms of qualifications for various types of jobs. They also learn what to ex- pect from employers in the way of renumeration or benefits,” says Thomas. “Career fairs provide a friendly, informal method of gathering information about com- panies.” This is the third year that Security personnel at Douglas College have begun using a Denver boot to deter illegal parking on College property. Douglas College has hosted a career fair. The success of the first two has led organizers to make it an annual event. “We got a lot of positive feed- back from companies who at- tended, and from the public as well,” says Thomas. “The idea is becoming more popular as modern times require that we take a more dynamic approach to employment.” Career Fair 1991 will be held in the Douglas College concourse on March 19th from 11 am to 6pm.
