Department profile - Bookstore It is called the Bookstore, but there is much more to this College department than the name implies. Along with servicing the needs of students, it also assists College employees by providing their operating needs from paper clips to computer supplies. The Bookstore carries Douglas College insignia, handy for employees going to conferences, and offers clothes, cards and gifts for special occasions. It has become a meeting place, a browsing area and a shopping centre. If items cannot be found on the shelves, special orders can be submitted for academic and non-academic books, office supplies and other items. As the College has grown, so has the Bookstore. The staff includes experts in their respective fields who have a lot of energy and dedication. Here is a look at the people who make the Bookstore an interesting place to visit. Linda Valecourt, Manager Linda is responsible for planning and development of operational policies and procedures. Over the next year her number-one priority is the computerization of the store, including the point of sale. This will assist the store in becoming more responsive to all customer needs and will enable it to better serve the College’s expansion. Margo Lott, Supervisor If you have any questions regarding books (texts or otherwise), alternate choices, availability, price, or publisher information, Margo is the one to see. Margo is responsible for coordinating all phases of textbook management and liaises with faculty, staff, publishers and students to ensure the books are on the shelves each term. She is developing a reference and general book section and welcomes all customer input. Jean Easton, Senior Bookstore Clerk Jean’s main role is as buyer of all ancillary items (non-book materials). She brings in merchandise for conferences; buys clothing, stationery and gift lines; and liaises with College employees for any special order requests for both student and office use.
