VISIT OF HIS HOLINESS, THE DALAI LAMA

 

His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, will be in Vancouver on Oct. 23 and
24. Several members of faculty and staff have sponsored Tibetan orphans
or old people. They and others may wish to attend the reception for
His Holiness given by the Tibetan Refugee Aid Society at the Hotel
Vancouver, Georgia and Burrard, Vancouver at 6-7:30 p.m., Oct. 24. The
cost including refreshments is $7.50. Please mailcheaque to:

OCCUPATIONAL PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT

 

Continuing Education - U.B.C. will offer the Instructor's Diploma
104 (ID 104) for five Saturdays at Douglas College (prerequisite is
I.D. 102). If you are interested, please contact Nigel Macklin -
Continuing Education, U.B.C. or Bill Reed, Newton Centre, SOc al
A minimum of 10 people are required to offer this course. If the
Saturday date is not convenient, Nigel Macklin will try and arrange
an evening course for Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.

If so, join us on Monday evenings (Oct. 13 excluded) at 7:45

in Studio 2 at the James Cowan Theatre, 6450 Gilpin, Burnaby. The
Coburn Little Symphony plays music of all kinds and standards. Musicians
of all ages welcome.

This is an amateur community orchestra with vacancies in many sections,
supported by the Burnaby Arts Council. Although,as its name suggests,
it is particularly serving Coquitlam and Burnaby, the orchestra has
players from many other areas.

SPLIT INVOKES POETRY

The College has split, and going in separate ways
No one knows whether he goes or stays

Will he be at Douglas or maybe the new Kwantlen?
Everyone talks of it but knows not when.

The next few months will be times of great change
The moving of courses which are of wide range
Where will they go as space is so very hard to find
That will be another axe for us all to grind.

The new South College will be ready in eighty-two

Then we'll know where we'll have our work to do
Whether it be Kwantlen or Douglas where we rest

It will be up to everyone to make his college the Best:
