MAD HATTER PAGE 16 CHRISTMAS PARTY ! Lynn (The Great Pumpkin) Ashcroft has agreed to head up our Christmas Party Planning Committee. Lillian Zimmerman has been the prime mover in our last two Christmas parties at the McBride Site, and therefore is bowing out this year as Chairman, although I understand she has kindly offered to be involved in the planning, itself. Announcement ‘farion Exmann recently accepted the po- sition of Women's Centre Coordinator for Douglas College. This is a new po- sition, made possible through special project money allocated to the college by the Ministry. Marian will be work- ing closely with women students and prospective students, and the college faculty, staff and administration, to tiaake the college more accessible to women. Thanks again, Lillian, from all of us for two great parties. In recognition of Lillian's contribution, we are making the Star of David top ornament a part of our annual tradition! We have. all had a hard year. Just to contemplate the amount of action since last January is to feel tired. However, we have come through it, and my sense of organization is that we generally have a lot to feel good about. Our Christ- mas party would be an appropriate time to stop for a couple of hours, appreciate each other, and enjoy ourselves. Lynn will be assembling a large group of people to help out. I hope that everyone will want to help. Please contact Lynn at local 287, McBride Site, if you would like to offer your assistance. I have asked Lynn and her Financial Aid For Adult Basic Education Students The Ministry of Education has made avail- able some money to assist students in EOW, ABE, ESL, HUD, and Career Explora- tion courses. It is a ron-re- payable grant of up to $15 per week. Students must see the Financial Aid Officer, Julie Steele, at either the New Westminster or Coquitlam cempus in order to make application for this money.
