EGE LIBRARY COPYRIGHT - vrozorsrreee ee E RGHIVES \ Recent examination of copyright responsibility by Douglas College faculty and legal advisors has resulted in the need for a formalized approach to the request, recording and circulation of off-air materials. The following procedures have been developed as a result of this examination: I. A request to tape a programme off-air should be directed to the Instructional Resources Centre. If schedules permit, the taping will proceed. It. The tape will then go to the Nev Westminster Campus Library, where it will be listed ‘ard kept for two weeks for the instructor to preview. It will be erased unless the preview results in a decision to use it. : III. If preview results in a decision that the material is appropriate for use in the College, the tape will be retained either: (a) permanently, if permission for its use can be obtained from the copyright holder, or (b) for a period of six months, whilst attempts are made to secure this permission. The tape will be used within the College during this time. In all cases, the College will attempt to obtain permission to use the material, by means of the following procedures: A. A registered letter (Attachmenc L 7602) will be sent to the Copyright Holder, if known, or to the Originating Network, TV Station or Producer. This letter will seek either: (a) permission to use this material, or (b) information on terms of such use, or (c) name and address of the actual Copyright Holder, if different from the addressee. eee Cont'd. dL ’
