Frick, a Douglas College athletics instructor, was recently given a coaching excellence award by the Coaching Association of Canada for his outstanding contribution to disabled athletes. "I was particularly thrilled when Danny called from Seoul (where the paralympic games were held) and told me his results," said Frick, calling the award "an added bonus". Westley won gold, silver and bronze medals in track and field com- petitions. Frick began coaching Westley in 1987, shortly after the College in- stalled a stationary wheeling machine for use by the disabled community. "Dan started using the machine and said he needed a coach," said Frick. "And so I came out of (coaching) retirement for him."
