Centre The Douglas College Early Childhood Education Society wishes to announce the fall opening of the Early Child- hood Education Centre and Demonstra- tion Lab (Room 2814) on Tuesday, September 4, 1984. The staff will continue to register and meet with the children and their families during the week of August 27. There are still some spaces available for the fall semester. Fees are: Full-time Care: $310.00 per month for 3 to 5 years 393.00 per month for 18 to 36 months old* Part-time Care: $3.00 per hour for 3 to 5 years 3.75 per hour for 18 to 36 months old* We are pleased to introduce our new and returning staff members. Marlene Edwards (Supervisor), who has been with the Centre since its opening in March, returns after the summer clo- sure. She received her Certificate in Early Childhood Education from Douglas College in May 1983. She is now working to complete the E.C.E. Post Basic Infant Specialty. Marlene is married and has two teenagers - a boy fifteen years old and a girl seventeen years old. Leila Denton joins the Centre Staff as Senior Supervisor. She is famil- iar to the day care community in Coquitlam, where for many years she successfully operated a family/group day care centre in her home. Now that her own family (ages 18, 21, and 23) have completed their educations, Leila expressed the de- sire to undertake a new professional challenge. leila is a graduate of the Douglas College Early Childhood Education 1 Program and she plans to complete her final course in the Post Basic Infant Specialty this fall. Her previous experience as a practicum supervisor for the Douglas College E.C.E. Program will be beneficial to her in her new position with the E.C.E. Demonstration Lab. Our Assistant Supervisor, Michael Landau, is a recent graduate of the Douglas College Early Childhood Edu- cation Program. Michael's work with children stems from his interest in the humanities during his high school years. Throughout the last ten years Michael has been involved with programs for people ranging in age from pre-schoolers to senior citizens. While striving for the fullest potential in human growth and development, he has become committed to a holistic approach to living.
