FOR THE USE ON THE
OPEN PUBLIC SERVICE — LIVE AND PRE-RECORDED

The Knowledge Network is pleased to invite proposals for use on the
Open Public Service for both live ‘interactive' and pre-recorded
television courses, series or individual programs. Since the inception
ef this open public service, the Knowledge Network has enabled many
educational institutions, government ministries and agencies to provide
learning opportunities throughout the province with this new and
exciting network.

Using Canada's Anik-C satellite amd cable television, the Knowledge
Network distributes its signal to over 148 communities throughout
British Columbia. Programs must be sponsored by appropriate public
agencies such as universities, colleges, school boards, government
ministries or approved associations. Programs must also meet
educational, production, and technical guidelines. Knowledge Network
staff will be pleased to provide advice on program design, production
and utilization as well as help in the planning of your program.

If you are interested in running a live interactive or pre-recorded
pilot project, for one or two sessions, for the purposes of eva-
luation, please inquire about our ‘Open Forum' programming. Open Forum
time is limited, but is built into our system to encourage both new
users and new projects. A minimum of one month's notice is required.

Successful applicants will be those whose proposal contains a letter of
commitment from a senior administrator of the sponsoring educational
institution, government ministry or approved association. Proposals
must be approved by the Board of Directors of the Knowledge Network.
Sponsors must assure the Knowledge Network that all program material is
cleared for use on the Network and must complete an indemnification
form. The Knowledge Network has a $75.08 access tariff for the
production services of live interactive programs. At this time, there
is no charge for carriage of pre-recorded programs.
