Partnerships stronger after Hungary visit Douglas College has agreed to the first working arrangements under the partnership agree- ment signed in December 1992 with Dr. Miklos Horn, the President of the College of Commerce, Catering and Tourism (CCCT). Dr. John McKendry, Dean of Applied Programs, has just returned from Hungary where he worked with Mr. Jim Sator, Director of Commerce and Business Administration and account- ing instructor Mr. Roy Brooks to implement last year’s agreement with the CCCT. McKendry says the development of earliest significance involves faculty exchanges. "We're looking at a series of faculty development workshops and specialized consulting (computer applications in business/finance) for two weeks later this summer. This will in- volve a number of faculty from the Department of Commerce and Business Administration consistent with the 3-year plan for International Business Education." In exchange, two faculty from the CCCT will spend most of July and August in the Lower Mainland studying English and becoming familiar with the College system. Another important development, says McKendry, is the potential for further partnership agreements with other Hungarian institutions. "Our work on this visit introducing our accounting and finance curriculum appears to be leading us to a second Partnership Agreement with the College of Finance and Accounting in Budapest, a sister institution of the CCCT," he says.
