DOUGLAS COLLEGE ARCHIVES To All College Personnel The Educational Planners in Student Services would like to say thank you to all College personnel who participated in the Senior Secondary Student Orientation to Douglas College on April 2 and 3. Our statistics show that two hundred and forty-three interested students attended over both days! We are planning to make this an annual event. Your recommendations and suggestions for next year's orientation are invited. Please call any one of us to discuss your ideas. Opinion Freedom to Choose Two Cases are currently proceeding through the courts in Ontario and B.C., in which union members are disputing the use of union dues for purposes other than the regular functions of collective bargaining and routine administrative costs. These individuals feel that they should not be forced to donate/contribute to social causes, political parties, etc.; this occurs when part of their dues is so allocated by their union. Unions' collective zeal to promote social change, the way they want, assumes the member cannot make up his/her own mind on such issues. This is an abuse of one's basic freedom of choice. You may wish to contribute to Charles Baldwin's Legal Fund. For information regarding where to contribute, please phone Murray Leslie at Local 4319, Submitted by Murray Leslie MAD HATTER 5 To College Support Staff From: Jim Doerr, Returning Officer, EPPCO Re: Education Policy & Planning Committee Representation The term of office of two of the four EPPCO staff representatives expires April 30, 1986.
