(604) 738 6822 VANCOUVER CHAMBER CHOIR OPENS SECOND SERIES IN NEW WESTMINSTER On Saturday, November 21 at 8:00 p.m., New Westminster audiences welcome the Vancouver Chamber Choir home after an exciting 19-day tour of China and Hong Kong. The Choir will be returning from their tour to open the three-concert New Westminster Series in Queens Avenue United Church with the China and Hong Kong Programme. The repertoire for this evening includes the music of Bach, Debussy and Bernstein. Percussionist Salvador Ferreras joins the Choir in works by Canadian composers Steven Chatman, Bruce Ruddell, Antonion Lauro, Murray Schafer and Derek Healey. The second concert in the seies called LOVE AND HIGH TIMES is a programme of spirited love songs which will be performed on February 27. The Choir will also take this programme on tour to Atlantic Canada in March. The series will close on April 30 with a programme titled SIMPLE GIFTS which consists of traditional folk music arranged by Aaron Copland, Ian MacDougall and a new work by Srul Irving Glick. In addition, series subscribers will receive tickets to a performance of Handel's MESSIAH in the Orpheum by the Vancouver Chamber Choir, the Vancouver Chorale, the CBC Vancouver Orchestra and soloists Wendy Humphreys, Alan Fast, Glyn Evans and George Evelyn. The series opens with THE CHINA AND HONG KONG CONCERT on Saturday, November 21, at 8:00 p.m. in Queens Avenue United Church at the corner of Sixth St. and Queens Avenue.
