SPORTS REPORT Rucy Team Bomgs B,C,1.T, The Douglas College rugby team put up another fine performance Over the weekend defeating B.C.I.T. by a score of 23-0. Douglas started on a strong note going ahead 4-0 in the first minutes of the game, the result of a try by George Boon. But play deteriorated due to some poor passing by the Douglas back line and too much kicking by both teams. By the half, Douglas led by a score of 12-0 with Bobby Given and John Turecki each scoring a try for Douglas. Play improved considerably in the second half as Douglas started settling down to some good, open orthodox rugby. Newcomer Rod Miller Scored another try for Douglas as did Chuck Kenyon. Dave Jagget kicked a penalty goal for Douglas to round out the scoring. In their first 3 games ‘this year, Douglas has kept the opposition from crossing their touchline. On Sunday they take on Capilano College. SoccER TEAM Loses To V.C.C, The Douglas soccer team dropped a narrow decision to Vancouver City College at Moberly Park over the weekend, going down 2-1. The match was pretty even the first half with neither team scoring and both teams putting on a fine exhibition of soccer. In the second half V.C.c. went ahead on a goal that was hotly disputed by the Douglas captain and players on the grounds that the goal was off-side. The referee was unmoved and minutes later the Douglas backs having lost their cool let in a ridiculously easy goal giving V.C.C. a 2-0 lead. Douglas now threw everything 20 into the attack and narrowed the gap to 2-1 as John Scivoei hammered in a penalty goal. - But V.C.c. hung on to win a most exciting match. Both these teams are strong contenders for the league championships again this year, and their next match should be a dandy. GERT VAN NIEKERK
