On March 9th, the Official Opening of the Douglas College Theatre was held. Much credit is due to College administration, staff, faculty and students, for a very impressive and joyous opening ceremony and evening. Recognition should also be given to Mrs. Shirley Piper of New Westminster, who did a great deal of the organizing work for the opening. On the following day, the Official Opening of the Douglas College Day Care Centre occurred, with Mr. Gerry Trerise, Chairman of the College Board officiating. On the same day, the College Open House occurred. The displays were interesting and attractive. A meeting is being held next week at Douglas College of the Douglas College faculty and the Psychiatric Nursing faculty of B.C.I.T. for orien- tation, and we expect the identification of the first group of transferring faculty to take place shortly after. Internal Matters - Personnel WLD/gb One grievance is currently in progress, initiated by the Douglas/ Kwantlen Faculty Association. Negotiations are at a standstill at the moment, with the Douglas Kwantlen Faculty Association. I expect that discussions will resume in the near future. The Selection Committee for the Dean of Applied Programs has virtually completed its work. I expect to be in a position to announce the new Dean within a few days. Following that announcement, appropriate activities will occur in order to introduce the new Dean to the College Board and the College community generally. .
