Mad Hatter Page d) Developmental Counselling involves helping ‘individuals to recognize and understand the normal phases and transitions of adult development so that they can understand and proyress through these stages in a manner that enhances their opportunity to live effectively and to develop theic potential. An example of this is providiny assistance to persons moving from adolescence and high school, to young adulthood and college or institute. This may also involve assisting mature students with changing roles and responsibilities when they return to school. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSION The model presented in this paper emphasizes the scope and complexity. of counsellor roles and functions and provides a Framework for classifying counselling interventions according to focus, methods and types dimensions (Fiyure 1). ‘The applicability of this model to current practice and to the diverse range of colleges and institutes can be specified by filling in the cells of the two dimensional chart.
