Diane Loomer, an Instructor in the Douglas College Music Depart- ment, recently made an exciting career advancement with her ap- pointment as Assistant Conductor to the prestigious Vancouver Bach Choir (VBC). “It’s a great honour,” said Loomer, who is known at Douglas College as the founder and conduc- tor of the Amabilis Singers and the Douglas College Children’s Choir. “Tt will be a fantastic learning ex- perience. I'll be able to prepare works that I would otherwise never have the opportunity to per- form, just because of the sheer ex- pense.” A native of Minnesota, Diane came to Douglas College via UBC’s School of Music where she graduated with honours. Combining her duties at Douglas College and her work with the VBC would, by most standards, leave her with no time for anything else. Her work with the British Columbia Choral Federation has garnered her their 1990 Willan Award for outstanding service.
