KEN McGLINCHEY ENGLISH SCHOLARSHIP Te Douglas College Founda- tion is pleased to announce the establishment of the KEN McGLINCHEY ENGLISH SCHOLARSHIP. The family of Ken McGlinchey and the Douglas College English and Communica- tions Department have established a fund to be known as the Ken McGlinchey English Scholarship. The purpose of this fund is to use all or part of the in- terest earned annually to provide one or more English scholarships for students attending Douglas College. The scholarship has been estab- lished to honour the work of Ken McGlinchey and assist students with a first-class standing in English who are interested in Canadian Literature. Contributions to the fund can be made directly to the Founda- tion Office (Room 4800A) or through payroll deductions. She has a BSc (hons) from Queen’s University and a MBA from UBC. She has held previous positions in the public and private sector. Most recently Cathy was a consultant for a medium sized consulting firm. She was also Editor-in-Chief of an internationally circulated newslet- ter which forecast gold and other metal prices. The Alumni Association project is especially exciting because of the many benefits it will offer Douglas College graduates. These will include: -An Alumni Newsletter -Reunions and other special events -Enhanced business contacts through a network of working alumni -Annual Alumni Association dinner and benefit -Guidance and counselling for students -Access to College Library, recreation and other college facilities. To ensure success of this project, Cathy will require sup- port from Douglas College graduates, student body, faculty, staff and college administration. MAD HATTER a SS SES NORTHERN TELECOM NATIONAL EDUCATION PROGRAM orthern Telecom has estab- lished a national education program designed to encourage and stimulate increased aware- ness and understanding of the opportunities associated with in- formation, management and communications technology. The program has a five year commit- ment with over $500,000 in funding per year. There are several components of the program which may particularly interest faculty. Please contact Randi Duke for further informa- tion at local 4801, BUILDING AIR CIRCULATION - CLASSROOMS In order to obtain the most effec- tive use of the air circulation system in CLASSROOMS we would like to remind faculty of the following conditions. 1. The air circulation system was designed to function best "WITH CLASSROOM DOORS CLOSED". Open doors are counter-productive to the system. 2. The switch with decal "switch on for air conditioning" must be on to activate the air cir- culation system."
