MAD HATTER _ FOUNDATION SUPPORTS COLLEGE INITIATIVES To Douglas College Founda- tion is pleased to announce the following grants in aid: 1. A grant of $865 to the ath- letics department to upgrade facilities for basketball tourna- ments and purchase specialized athletic equipment for skill train- ing. 2. Agrant of $700 to assist with the Writer-In-Residence program. 3. Agrant of $457 toward the purchase of a training wheelchair for disabled students and people who have difficulty in participat- ing in traditional fitness activities. 4. A grant of $487 to EVENT to assist with a special photographic section in the Summer 1988 issue of the journal. “HAPPY END A HIT" (seer to Dorothy Jones, the students, the musicians (especially Henry Waack) and the production staff for an enjoyable and entertaining night at the theatre. Connie Land ART HISTORY SLIDES large collection of colour “Aslides of the world’s art in all periods, media and styles, is avail- able in the Audio-Visual Department of the Library. Thanks to a work study grant, the slides have been mounted and classified. They should be useful to faculty for teaching and stu- dents for study and research. MARKETING STUDENTS WEEKEND AT WHISTLER A contingent of 28 marketing students from Douglas Col- lege joined forces with the marketing students from VCC Langara on the November 13-15 weekend for a "Marketing Weekend Retreat at Whistler”. Dennis Hansen, Marketing Manager of Blackcomb Moun- tain, gave a presentation on _ Blackcomb’s marketing strategy for the next three years. Black- comb has spent $25 million on capital equipment in the last year to double the typical skiers skiing time each day. Students were treated to a tour of the facilities _ and the new high speed lifts.
